Our congregation of Messianic Jews and Messianic Gentiles worship Messiah of Isra'el - Yeshua.
That is a historic and unique fact in Southwest Missouri.
We are a vibrant venue of mostly older adherents on fixed incomes. Kehilat Nahar Zerach River Rising Congregation is preparing, again, to "Enlarge your tent."
Establishing our Chevra Kadisha "Sacred Society" is to assure Messianic Jewish and Messianic Gentile dignity for the dying and dead and consoling family and friends needing comfort.
Anti-Semitic violence, vandalism, and voices are experienced in our mostly conservative and rual setting. The necessity to acquire private, dedicated, and secure cemetery plots is keenly felt. We also recognize associated funeral costs, despite traditional Jewish values for modesty in burial practices, range between $7,000 - $10,000. Those ranges will rise, as they have dramatically and consistently done for the past 20 years.
It makes fiscal stewardship sense to our unique congregation to also build a Tahara House. Tahara is the Jewish ritual of washing the body of the deceased with dignity. Our Taharah House (20x30) would be built on one-acre for the private, dedicated, and secure Jewish cemetery plots.
Finally, but an integral part of establishing an endowment would be the design, publishing, and distribution of a manual that provides "best practices" for a Messianic Jewish and or Messianic Gentile funeral and burial. It is our current understanding that a complete Chevra Kadisha Sacred Society manual for the Messianic Jewish-Gentile community does NOT exist. Our working title for the manual is called, "Life to Eternal Life." We envision offering Life to Eternal Life world-wide with a request of a modest donation.
We are considering using one of the many online funding resources, e.g., Fundly, to broadcast our need, giving others an opportunity to participate.
So, as we currently understand our need, it is to endow three related projects coupled to an administrative-maintenance resource.
